CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF IMMIGRATION:
CAUSES:
People came from their home countries to America for several reasons. These reasons include getting themselves out of poverty and finding better occupation opportunities. People also moved to America to join their families.
EFFECTS:
Due to the increased population of the United States, people were often put into horrible homes that they could barely afford. The increase in use of transportation caused city streets to become crowded with horse manure and alleyways to become covered in trash due to the lack of public services. Increased population also led to higher crime rates in the cities, which was mostly caused by the lack of care provided by the police.
Increased complications also led to the formation of Political Machines and Bosses, who took control of cities by gaining support of people through providing jobs and homes. The bosses also regulated police, and caused a significant change in crime. The boss was also able to hire people to work with services such as sanitation, water, fire, etc. This helped keep the city safe and thriving.
CAUSE:
anti-Asian sentiment
EFFECT:
it kept Asians out of the united states as well as put a tight watch on any Asian immigrant and would eventually lead to the Chinese exclusion act followed by the gentleman's agreement
CAUSE:
Nativism
EFFECT:
Nativism led to many more whites being let into America as well as higher rate of discrimination
